PEAK Whale Watching Weekends Coming up in Melbourne

PEAK Whale Watching Weekends Coming up in Melbourne

It's that time of year again. Humpback Whales are passing our coastline and the next two weekends are the peak for seeing them as they head north from their Antarctic feeding grounds (now shrouded in darkness).

Two Bays Whale Project

The Two Bays Whale Project is a citizen science program aiming to better understand whale movements within Port Phillip, Western Port and the nearby waters of Victoria.

The project (https://www.facebook.com/twobayswhales/) publishes all the latest news and sightings. They have put together this handy map about where it's best to see them from land.

Phillip Island Whale Festival

From 5-7 July, you can join a host of activities on Phillip Island centred around learning about the whales and dolphins that inhabit Victoria's coastline. Find out more at http://islandwhales.com.au/

Take a Boat Trip

Of course the other way is to get out on a boat.

We will be joining Wildlife Coast Cruises https://www.wildlifecoastcruises.com.au/ on the morning of the 1 July ... the medium-term forecast looks good, with light northerly winds forecast.
