Alami Alor is a remote resort located in Alor Island’s Kalabahi Bay. It is considered by many, to be one of the top places in the world to snorkel. It combines incredibly picturesque shallow-water reefs with soft and hard corals; with chance to see open-ocean species including possibly blue whales, sharks and ocean sunfish.
Alami Alor is a small and intimate dive & snorkel resort specializing in providing a personalized service to our guests not just in regard to scuba diving & snorkeling, but also hospitality. The resort accommodates a maximum of 14 guests.
The Alor Archipelago is one of the hottest destinations for snorkellers and divers right now! But like so many parts of Indonesia, there are great dive/snorkel resorts but very few available rooms.
Alor has one of the most well preserved coral reef systems in Indonesia. Dynamite and cyanide fishermen from other islands were long ago warded off by the local people who saw the value in preserving their home reefs. Cold water upwellings from the southern seas push through the Pantar Strait after each new and full moon keeping the water temperature regulated and fresh. This means some of the most colourful, beautiful, diverse and densely covered coral reef sites.
Alami Alor is also well known for its beautiful and diverse house reef. This is accessible from the resort and is free to dive and snorkel any time.

September is a good time of year to visit Alor. Blue whales are a chance, as they head back to Australia on migration through the Banda Sea. If we're fortunate, we have probably the best chance anywhere in the world, to swim with Ocean Sunfish. This depends on some searching and finding upwellings. For divers, there is a good chance of Hammerhead Sharks and Thresher Shark is a possibility (the latter is better in the cooler mid-hear).
At this time of year, it's still dry. The water is warm and visibility is generally excellent.
All aspects of travel will be arranged for you.
Getting there requires a flight from Australia to Indonesia, followed by an early morning (2AM) flight to Alor.
You do not dive on your arrival day. This first day you are welcome to spend at your leisure.
Guest accommodation is provided in 7 spacious and airy waterfront
bungalows. Your bungalow is accessed via a private pebble path which
leads to your tropical hardwood terrace and ocean front seating area.
Inside, your bedroom features a full glass ocean facing frontage with
