#66 - LIVE Sea Eagles & Peak Whale Watching

Winter is a great time to get out and see some different wildlife. Did you know, it's the time of year when Lyrebirds breed? These avian muses are the origin of all songbirds on Earth! Head to any wet forest in southeast Australia at this time of year and you have the chance to hear these extraordinary birds shout the repertoire of more kookaburras, whipbirds, cockatoos and currawongs, to name a few.

It's also the time when Sydney's Sea Eagles lay their first eggs. Chicks will be hatching and maturing just in time for spring. EagleCAM volunteers worked for over two weeks (over 450 man hours) upgrading the system this year so you can continue to follow the action live from up high in the trees in Sydney's Olympic Park.

Watch the LIVE video here.

Finally, if you're in Melbourne, you're in for a treat. The next two weekends are PEAK whale watching season. We are heading out with Wildlife Coast Cruises on 1 July (weather currently looks great).

The following weekend (5-7 July) it's the Island Whale Festival on Phillip Island. Click here to find out the best land-based destinations to watch.

Drop us a line if you're going to be on board Wildlife Coast Cruises out of Rhyll on the 1 July and come and say hello : )

Best wishes,

July Whale Watching in Melbourne

Wildilfe Coast Cruises

Where and how to see whales in Melbourne

It's that time of year again. Humpback Whales are passing our coastline and the next two weekends are the peak for seeing them as they head north from their Antarctic feeding grounds (now shrouded in darkness).

Are you planning your next adventure?

If you're looking for comfortable adventure travel where you can experience unique things, then give us a call. Much of what we sell you won't find on the shelf of any travel agent - it takes specialists who know the people, nature and places, to deliver an outstanding experience. Our clients want to spend time with experts photographing hummingbirds, watching Narwhals (above) from the edge of ice-flows, photographing highland tribes, contributing to orangutan conservation or listening to whales underwater. Most of all, our guests travel with incredible local guides and experts, connecting them with nature, in comfort and at a price that you will find surprisingly affordable.

We do plenty of group tours (where significant added-value and / or discounts are always possible).

Why not give us a call and see what we could do for you?
